Counselling and Sandplay with Angela Rock

Angela offers counselling for Adults, Adolescents and Children.

Angela is offering both face to face and the opportunity for online counselling for Adults and Adolescents.  The online counselling would be preceded by an initial face to face session and clients must have access to reliable internet/data – an application such as Skype or Facebook Messenger could be utilised from laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

Angela utilises this modality with all clients and it is the primary modality that Angela utilises with children.  All Sandplay sessions are conducted in person.  Sandplay is a gentle, nurturing approach to counselling children who have experienced trauma, anxiety, bullying, grief and loss or just simply require a helping hand.  Angela has a consultation with the parent/carer during the initial referral process to discuss any points of concern and is in regular contact with parents/carers as required throughout the consultation process.  The Sandplay process usually consists of a minimum of six sessions spread over the course of eight weeks or as required; depending upon circumstances.

Parenting Courses;  Tuning In To Kids and Tuning In To Teens

Tuning In to Kids is a six week parenting program that could make a positive difference to your child’s development.  It can help you to teach your child the skills of emotional intelligence.

What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional Intelligence is about using your emotions to guide you through the world.  It is about being able to use your knowledge of emotions to make decisions, to calm yourself down, to manage anger and conflict, to help you in your relationships with people, to understand what is happening in social situations, and to assist you in any aspects of life that involves you and another person.

Why is Emotional Intelligence important?

Children with greater emotional intelligence have been shown to:

  • Have greater success with making friendships and be more able to manage conflict with peers

  • Have better concentration, which means they are more likely to be successful academically

  • Be more able to self soothe when upset or angry

  • Tend to have fewer childhood illnesses

  • Have more stable and satisfying relationships as adults; and

  • Have greater career success…emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of academic and career success than IQ!

When parents focus on helping their child learn about emotions, the child is more likely to have higher emotional intelligence.  In this parenting program we will teach parents what to do to help these skills develop.

Tuning in to Teens program

The Teens program is also a six session program.

Would you like to learn how to

  • Be better at talking with your teen?

  • Be better at understanding your teen?

  • Help your teen learn to manage their emotions?

  • Help prevent behaviour problems in your teen?

  • Teach your teen to deal with conflict?

Tuning in to Teens shows you how to help your teen develop emotional intelligence.  Adolescents with higher emotional intelligence:

  • Are more aware, assertive and strong in situations of peer pressure

  • Have greater success with making friends and are more able to manage conflict with peers

  • Are more able to cope when upset or angry

  • Have fewer mental health and substance abuse difficulties

  • Have more stable and satisfying relationships as adults

  • Have greater career success – emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of academic and career success than IQ.

If you are interested in participating in either of these programs please contact Angela.  Angela is offering this program in person to parents and also as an online program.  Each session would run for approximately 1 ½ hours.  The program can be accessed online after work hours Tuesday to Wednesday.  Participants must have access to reliable internet and an application such as Skype or Facebook Messenger via their tablet, laptop or phone for the online program to be successful.

For more information please don’t hesitate to contact Angela here, at Clarence Natural Therapies or on 0456 225755 or via email arockcounselling@bigpond.com.

Sandplay is a gentle, supportive, caring and fun way to work with children and adults.  Children will unearth their own meaning from their experiences in a natural, playful way, without having to use language which may be misunderstood.  Sandplay bypasses language and allows the Sandplay picture to tell what’s really going on for the child.  The act of creating a Sandplay helps the child to have mastery of their outer world.

“Children will understand deep truths for themselves as they work in the sand.  This is very transformative for the child.”  (Garvan, M)
